Join Our Team as a Clinical Coordinator in Perioperative Services! Are you ready to make a difference in the world of nursing? The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is on the lookout for a dynamic and dedicated Clinical Coordinator to join our Perioperative Services team!



About the Role: As a Clinical Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of our clinical care coordination, providing specialized nursing care and leadership. Your role will involve:

• Collaborating with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals to plan and care for specific patient populations.
• Overseeing surgery scheduling to ensure everything runs smoothly.
• Managing patient preference cards for accuracy.
• Reconciling surgery charges to keep our records in check.
• Leading efforts to improve nursing quality through care planning, surgical schedule oversight, charge reconciliation, and documentation audits.
• Educating health profession students and residents with specialized health education.
• Communicating complex medical information to a variety of audiences.
• Participating in Quality Improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
• Reporting variances and working to address them.
• Recommending policy enhancements for improved care processes.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, weekends, holidays, and call per unit needs.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
• A minimum of 2 years recent OR nursing experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstration of commitment to principles of Service Excellence
• Excellent organization skills; detail oriented
• Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA), or Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) is encouraged
• Expertise in Robotic surgical procedures
• Expertise in Epic Optime
• Knowledge of OR scheduling processes
• Specialty certification within one year of eligibility to sit for exam.
