(Contingent upon available funding): 42,000.00 - 57,000.00, Salary Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00-5:00. Some evening and weekend hours required. Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The university photographer will use technical expertise, composition and lighting skills, and a high level of creativity to visually tell the story of Oklahoma State University. The photographer will capture clear, dynamic images and edit digital photography for the institution as part of the Department of Brand Management. Images will include important campus events and milestones, faculty and staff portraits, products and activities that help promote the institution through websites, advertising, publications including university magazines, social media channels and more. The photographer will collaborate with other members of the Brand Management team, as well as marketing and communications professionals across the OSU System, to enhance university marketing campaigns and meet the archival needs of the university through eye-catching imagery. The photographer will catalog images within the OSU digital asset management system, using keywords and permission settings to ensure photos are embargoed, when necessary, and maintain photo archives. The photographer will capture candid shots, as well as staged group photos and portraits that will require them to direct and position subjects. Some photos will need to be processed and edited quickly for university use.
Additional Responsibilities: The role will often include evening and weekend work, including travel, but work-life balance is critically important, and schedules will be appropriately adjusted to accommodate.

Education & Experience Position Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications: 


  • High/School GED 

  • Four years related work experience 
  • -OR- 
  • Two years post-secondary education in related field 

  • Two years related work experience 
  • -OR- 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field 
  • DSLR and/or mirrorless camera experience, studio and natural lighting techniques. Ability to compose and create interesting photographs, and adapt to a variety of lighting environments. Editing experience using Adobe software. Experience collaborating with creative teams to create impactful and eye-catching imagery. Experience directing and positioning subjects, including high profile people. Demonstration of flexibility and agility to accommodate changing circumstances in shoots and events.Should have experience in creative photography including digital capture, enhancement, and manipulation. Knowledge of communication through images and the best way to obtain pictures that meet or exceed the expressed need.Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors, unit staff and campus partners to ensure collaborative environment, coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes in photography. Must learn quickly and demonstrate flexibility in the work environment. Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the brand of Oklahoma State University.
    Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in PhotographyTen years of DSLR and/or mirrorless camera experience, studio and natural lighting techniques, ability to compose and create visually appealing images, advanced editing using Adobe software. Experience with digital asset management systems, keywords and archival processes. Experience shooting in a university or higher education setting.
