Are you passionate about guiding and mentoring students to help them succeed academically, socially, and professionally? Alternate Perspectives, Inc. (API) is looking for a dedicated Career Counselor to provide case management and counseling to students, ensuring they receive the support they need to achieve their goals. You will play a key role in fostering positive group living relations and career development success.
If you want to be a part of a dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24 years old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation's most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years. What You'll Do:
  • Conduct personal intake assessments to identify student needs and create individualized success plans.
  • Provide one-on-one and group counseling in personal, academic, and career-related areas.
  • Support students facing challenges such as family issues, health concerns, and attendance; refer to community resources as needed.
  • Maintain detailed case management records, including progress evaluations and career development plans.
  • Recommend and facilitate career and educational opportunities, including college placement, transfers, and advanced training programs.
  • Collaborate with staff and the mental health team to support students in need of medical or psychological services.
  • Lead training sessions and group discussions to enhance student social and professional development.
  • Enforce behavioral and employability expectations to ensure career readiness and personal growth.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social services-related instruction. Experience working in counseling, case management, or youth services is preferred.
  • Experience & Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to mentor and guide students. Experience working with youth or young adults in an educational or counseling setting. Ability to assess student needs and create effective support plans. Computer proficiency for case documentation and progress tracking.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
