What You'll Do
Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation:
Identify and coordinate with top-tier suppliers to secure long-term contracts that guarantee a continuous and high-quality product supply. Negotiate pricing, quantity, and terms that balance volume discounts with efficient warehousing and market trends.
Vendor Relationship Management:
Select vendors based on their ability to provide exceptional service, innovative products, and market responsiveness. Build and maintain robust relationships by swiftly addressing invoicing, quality, or delivery issues, ensuring longevity and trust.
Market-Driven Product Selection:
Evaluate and choose products that perfectly match their market needs, considering product performance, alternative supply sources, and the overall reputation of vendors. Your discerning eye will drive product quality and customer satisfaction.
Emergency Responsiveness:
Step in during unforeseen circumstances by ensuring emergency product requests are expedited to keep their distribution center well-stocked and ready to serve.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales team to provide essential product and pricing information. Leverage your insights to recommend pricing structures that enhance volume and margin performance.
Team Engagement:
Collaborate as a committed team member, ready to jump into any duty that best serves the company and supports our organizational success.
What They're Looking For
Experience & Education:
High School Diploma/GED is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of 2+ years of purchasing experience is essential.
Industry Knowledge:
Prior experience in the food distribution industry is a must, with foodservice distribution experience considered a valuable asset.
Familiarity with various commodity groups such as perishables, frozen items, center-of-plate, dairy, dry goods, or beverages will set you apart.
