Job Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all safety standards are met in the tool room
Oversee the tooling department and ensure all tooling processes are running smoothly
Develop and implement tooling policies and procedures for the department
Ensure all tooling equipment is maintained and repaired as needed
Train and supervise tooling technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job duties
Collaborate with other departments to ensure tooling needs are met for new product development and production
Ensure the tooling department meets production schedules and quality standards
Monitor priorities and manage work orders to best apply resources to ensure top tooling actions are met in a timely manner
If tooling contractors become necessary, manage their workload
Manage tooling material inventory, monitor tooling costs and make recommendations for cost savings
Stay up to date on industry developments and technological advancements in tooling
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling and manufacturing processes
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (preferred)
Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a team of technicians and engineers
Experience in budget management and cost reduction initiatives
Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend innovative solutions
Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce safety protocols
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
EQUIPMENT and/or PRODUCT FAMILIARITY:
Computer, measuring instruments and communication devices
RESPONSIBILITY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager, the Tooling Supervisor works independently and confers regularly with division, corporate, contractors, customer, and supplier staff specialists. A valid Driver's License is required for day travel with the occasional overnight stay. A valid passport which allows the Tooling Supervisor to travel to attend customer and potential integrator/supplier meetings is necessary. Occasional day travel and overtime may be required to meet customer expectations. The incumbent requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and some of the information in-process can be considered confidential. Works in an office environment but may be exposed to some elements such as temperature and noise during time spent in the plant.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods working on feet performing tasks that require frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and/or lifting from the floor, waist, overhead, chest, and/or knee level; may also be required to squat, kneel, push, pull, carry, grasp with hands and fingers; use of hand tools
Visual acuity is necessary to read instructions, manipulate parts, tools, machines and other objects.
Hearing acuity to understand verbal instructions, respond to emergency signals.
Must be able to read, write, speak the English language to communicate with other staff
Prolonged exposure to moderate to high levels of noise, laser beams, flashing or blinking lights, machine signals and other sounds associated with a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of safety glasses and safety footwear is required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
