Job Description
Vertex is seeking a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible for working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative, and service-oriented work environment, providing leadership to the client and entire project team throughout the project lifecycle. We are targeting candidates with previous experience with healthcare related construction projects.
Job Duties:
Manage day-to-day activities on projects in all phases from feasibility thru occupancy
Serve as client's day-to-day contact and trusted advisor
Manage all project activities including project scope, schedule, cost, cash flow, quality, communications, coordination, procurement, and risk elements required to optimize client service, quality, and fiscal responsibility
Primary responsibility for implementation of all processes, procedures and deliverables
Primary lead for overall project schedule and budget
Manage and drive performance of the "project team"
Administrator of VERTEX Contract and related project billings
Leads multiple projects and related teams
Business development / Sales Support responsibility
Identify and/or create opportunities to sell VERTEX services from other practice areas
Take a leading role in opportunity response / interview
Target new projects to build and maintain backlog
People Management responsibilities including multiple direct reports both project and non-project based
Management Duties:
Work with Project Director and Managing Director in establishing growth strategy for practice area
Represent VERTEX to inside and outside constituents exhibiting the highest ethical and professional behavior being a great teammate
Effective management of assignments within the region; meeting budget and delivery timeframes; ensuring client satisfaction
Ensuring that assignments are executed with technical proficiency, accuracy, professionalism, and with VERTEX's brand of excellence
Recruit and manage future employees to achieve strategic goals and personify VERTEX core values - Learning, Urgency, Value, & Collaboration; inspire all employees to deliver first in class project management service
Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
Specific Related Project Experience Requirements:
Experience with new, addition/renovation, and phased, and construction projects
Experience working in sensitive occupied environments like outpatient healthcare facilities, hospitals, labs, research buildings, GMP manufacturing facilities, implementing a construction project
New England travel and/or field work may be required
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred
Experience:
7 -10 years of construction or related experience.
Owner's Project Management work with public and private clients on higher education, healthcare, or life science construction projects preferred
Work in a consultant setting tracking your time and monitoring activities against a budget
Certification and Licensees:
LEED Accreditation or similar preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills:
Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and contractors
Strong aptitude in collaboration tools and virtual meeting management • Able to work with minimal oversight but take direction effectively from managers • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally driven
Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions
Strong communicator with effective verbal and written communication skills
Enjoys collaboration and being on a team
Efficient, well-organized and positive attitude when approached with challenges and realities of construction management and consulting
Requires excellent technology, computer, and document management proficiencies
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency or working knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project a plus
General working knowledge of Construction Project Management software's (i.e., Procore, Newforma, Bluebeam, etc.) is a plus
