Job Summary
The Clinical Research Assistant I, to be based in the Osher Center's Mind-Body-Movement Laboratory, will work directly with the Project Manager and Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Health to advance the Center by performing a variety of tasks. The Center is based in the Division of Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The role of the CRA I is to manage and contribute to the coordination of multiple projects related to the scientific evaluation of a range of integrative therapies (e.g. Tai Chi, yoga, acupuncture, chiropractic) targeting multiple populations (e.g., older adults, mild cognitive impairment, chronic pain). Specific tasks will include working with a Project Manager to finalize study protocols, oversee communications with IRBs, recruit patients, administer phone screens, administer informed consent, enroll patients, perform data collection, interpretation, and manuscript preparation, and manage the experience of subjects throughout a study.



Qualifications



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Help finalize protocols and develop study manuals and CRFs for new clinical studies.


2. Work directly with the PI to develop and write IRB protocols, amendments, and annual reviews, and oversee ongoing communication with IRBs.


3. Assesses potential patients' eligibility for inclusion in the study via screening forms and checklists. Checks all eligibility or ineligibility criteria of the patient with study physicians when required.


4. Enrolls patients onto clinical trial, obtains informed consent from patients, and oversees enrollment process that staff follows.


5. Assist in the collection of biomotion and physiological data, and assists in the training of more junior RAs that serve as support staff during outcome assessments.


6. Interacts with patients prior to entering the study and throughout the entire treatment.


7. Actively participates in data collection, including administering questionnaires, performing structured qualitative interviews of research participants.


8. Directly responds to inquiries regarding study protocol and policy. Serves as liaison or point-person for the study.


9. Communicates with Project Manger concerning appropriate issues during interaction with subjects.


10. Develops and pilot-tests data collection forms and procedures (hard-copy and/or electronic databases, etc.)


11. Plan agendas and provide logistical support for meetings with study teams. 12. Collaborates on manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, including co-authorship of papers


13. Participates in decisions made for the study and formulation of study-specific policies and procedures. Identifies modifications needed and works to implement solutions.


14. Performs all other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
:



1. Bachelor's Degree Required.


2. One or more years of research experience, post-bachelors preferred.


3. Strong knowledge of word-processing and operating computer software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.


4. Knowledge of medical terminology.
