The Senior Director of Clinical Informatics and Analytics leads a team in supporting various departments of the organization through clinical data analysis and reporting to drive key initiatives and support the overall business strategy. This role is necessary to build and drive the clinical reporting and analytics capabilities, and to assure that clinical platforms are optimized to support and inform the everyday work of the front-line staff.
This position will allow the successful candidate to work fully remote; they will be required to report on-site to the Alliance Home Office (Morrisville, North Carolina) for business meetings as needed. The role is preferably to be based in North Carolina, however, candidates residing outside of NC will be considered on a case by case basis.
Responsibilities & Duties
Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting
Build and develop reports using warehoused data owned by IT. Build on existing organization-wide reporting platforms in addition to ad hoc needs
Identify reporting needs and facilitate requirements development for staff productivity and performance monitoring. This includes, but is not limited to, caseloads, member outreach and engagement, alignment with CM contract requirements, KPI metrics, TCM billing, and documentation standards
Review member outcome data trends and analyze the impact of care management efforts to improve outcomes
Remain cognizant of current Alliance and departmental spending trends and the effect on the availability of fiscal resources; discuss budget requirements and amendments with SVP Population Health- Care Management and Chief Medical Officer
Prepares operational analysis, presentations and recommendations as required; presents findings to a wide variety of stakeholders including executive and senior leadership
Lead Business Strategy for Clinical Software Systems
Advocate for maximal utility and capabilities from existing platforms. Evaluate needs for existing and future systems while maintaining fiscal responsibility
Closely collaborate with Executive and Senior Clinical Leadership to drive key initiatives, foster cross-functional collaboration and ensure the effective execution of clinical strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and goals
Ensure that proper structures and systems are in place for the development, recommendation and review of new programs, program expansions or program changes
Anticipate and proactively identify potential challenges and opportunities for improvement across the Clinical Operations departments and facilitate operational efficiencies and mitigation strategies by providing actionable recommendations
Own and spearhead cross-departmental strategic projects and initiatives from inception to execution assuring successful outcomes
Ensure that proper structures and systems are in place for the development, recommendation and review of new programs, program expansions or program changes
Promote and facilitate communication and collaboration between clinical leadership, departments, and stakeholders ensuring alignment and integration of efforts
Prepares operational analysis, presentations and recommendations as required; presents findings to a wide variety of stakeholders including executive and senior leadership
Cross Functional Collaboration with Other Departments
Lead team of analysts in supporting numerous departments including Care Management; Pharmacy, Utilization Management, Appeals and Grievance, Population Health, and Quality will have competing needs that must be prioritized to best meet organization performance
Collaborate with other departments and entities outside of the organization to secure reliable information, analytics, and reporting
Lead in a consultant role in advising executive and senior leadership on complex and high-risk strategic and contractual operational initiatives
Collaborate with leaders across the organization to help them understand and identify the value drivers to improve business operations and meet departmental objectives
Communicate corporate initiatives with both technical and non-technical Alliance executives and other team members, using active leadership skills across project team and the business community
Develop cross-departmental teams and analytics business application expertise throughout the Alliance organization
Manage and Develop Staff
Responsible for establishing and implementing a safe working environment that meets all licensure, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
Develops training plans to support and maintain highly qualified Team Member
Work with Human Resources and Directors to attract, maintain, and retain a highly qualified and well-trained workforce
Ensure proper and adequate staffing for their team
Ensure staff are well trained in and comply with all organization and department policies, procedures, and business processes
Organize workflows and ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities
Ensure the department has the needed tools and resources to achieve organizational goals and to support employees and ensure compliance with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation requirements

Ensure all staff are treated with respect and dignity

Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services or a related Information and Technology field from an appropriately accredited college/university and seven (7) years management experience in health care field operating informatics and analytics functions.
Preferred:
Specific experience with health plans is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Expertise in SQL and database querying
Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or other clinical platforms)
Knowledge of healthcare data standards and interoperability (e.g., HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC, ICD-10)
Experience with clinical data warehousing and reporting
Proficient in statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, R, or Python)
Experience with data governance frameworks
Understanding of value-based care and population health analytics
Knowledge of clinical workflows and process optimization
Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., CMS, NCQA)
Familiarity with machine learning or AI applications in healthcare analytics
Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
Salary Range
$113,520- $150,414/Annually
Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
