Job Description: Essential duties: Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, state, and federal environmental regulations. Performs electrical inspections on all in-service mining equipment and record repairs and findings into federal inspection book Maintains & repairs low, medium, and high voltage electrical circuits. Installs/removes power cable from high voltage mining circuits. Performs troubleshooting on AC and DC circuits. Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots DC motor and generator circuits on mining equipment. Operates mining support equipment. Other duties: Operates the equipment to diagnose problems and to test after repair. Operates light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site. Maintains work area in a safe and clean manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and instructions, and electrical prints and schematics. Knowledge of National Electric Code, MSHA regulations. Knowledge of basic electrical theory. Knowledge of high voltage switchgear and be able to safely operate it. Knowledge of basic electrical test instruments. Knowledge of PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives. Obtain MSHA Electrical Certification becoming a Qualified Person – able to perform electrical work in a mine after 1 year of work experience. Communicate and work well with co-workers, supervision, and management. Required Education and Training: Electrical technical training at a vocational school or an electrician apprenticeship Possess MSHA Electrical Certification or be able to obtain it within the required time.
