Job Description:

Research Technician B

US-NY-Einstein/Resnick - Bronx

Job ID: 2025-17146
Type: Research
Category: 1199 Union
Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Overview

  • The Choi Lab, in the Departments of Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, would welcome applications for a research technician. The laboratory is focused on understanding the complex interactions among environmental and genetic factors, and aging, in remodeling the intestinal mucosa in terms of stem and progenitor cell and lineage reprogramming. Studies are at the cellular and molecular level using novel molecular and imaging methodologies to understand processes and cell interactions in normal intestinal homeostasis and perturbations that drive pathology, including risk for tumor development.

Our research combines cutting-edge techniques, including single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, advanced bioinformatics, organoid co-culture systems, and intravital imaging, to explore:

· How the intestinal mucosa adapts to diverse environmental stimuli.

· The influence of aging on intestinal stem cell plasticity and resilience.

· Mechanisms of tumorigenesis and chronic inflammation.

Responsibilities

The technician will actively contribute to cutting-edge research focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying intestinal health, with a particular emphasis on how these processes are influenced by aging and dietary condition. This work involves utilizing advanced molecular biology techniques, intravital imaging, and bioinformatics to investigate tissue adaptation, cellular signaling and translational approaches to improve mucosal health.

Research technicians are responsible for:

  • · Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, immunostaining).
  • · Maintain and handle mouse models, including genotyping and window surgery.
  • · Support organoid culture experiments and tissue processing.

*Require occasional guidance;

*Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;

*Rarely modify technical procedures;

*Rarely train other lab members;

*Rarely guide other lab members;

*A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;

*Occasionally analyze data;

*Rarely interpret data;

*Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.

Qualifications

  • Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.
  • Prior lab experience in molecular biology or animal handling is highly desirable
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field is preferred.
