Located at 307 West Central Street in Natick, MA, our practice offers caring, comprehensive primary care for adult patients.
We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm (Staggered shifts are scheduled accordingly). This Medical Assistant must be able to travel to our other Primary Care locations (Waltham, Wellesley, Walpole, or Millis) in the rare occasion of cross coverage purposes if needed.
Job Summary
Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner.
As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the care team. our clinical support staff members work 1:1 with their provider seeing about 12-16 patients a day.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates pre-visit preparations including addressing the special needs of patients (i.e. comfort measures, communication, and other appropriate issues), ensuring relevant labs and tests are scheduled and completed prior to office visit, organization of paper chart, etc.
- Escorts patients to the exam rooms and take vital signs. - Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice, including but not limited to: injections and EKG's.
- Obtains blood specimens in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a professional, patient-sensitive atmosphere.
- Provides assistance to providers with office procedures.
- Prepares requisitions and submits specimens to the laboratory.
- Sends in electronic prescriptions for patients that have been instructed by providers.
- Communicates with patients regarding laboratory, imaging results and prescription instructions per practice protocol.
- Cleans and restocks exam rooms.
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality of any and all patient records including but not limited to treatment, diagnosis, history, medication, and financial status.
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Experience Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. - Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. - Accuracy and attention to detail. - Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. - Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens. - Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. - Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
