POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. CAD Operator is responsible utilizing computer-aided drafting systems to prepare drawings and designs. The Sr. CAD Operator will converse with engineers and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comprehensive knowledge of building codes to ensure project blueprints meet all appropriate building code standards.
• Manages design layout for all construction projects based on code regulations and conformance utilizing knowledge of CAD and mechanical drafting skills.
• Meets with governmental agencies (county and local) as well as building inspectors and plan examiners regarding project design and compliance with agency regulations.
• Responsible for the complete submission of all applicable plans, color renderings and accompanying paperwork to the governing authorities for building permits.
• Manages on-site meetings with clients, owners, civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, code officials and building general contractor to ensure project specifications prior to design onset and ongoing to ensure project continuity and necessary design modifications.
• Manages design layout based on code regulations and client expectations.
• Represents Matthews at job construction meetings with sub-contractors and contractors regarding layout, design specifications and project schedule.
• May Supervise work of other designers.
• Responsible for overall maintenance of project computer drives, plotters and printers.
• Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD), Graphic Design, Art or related field.
• 8-10 years CAD experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in the drafting of commercial buildings, industrial equipment, and associated details.
• High degree of proficiency with Solidworks, Inventor, and PDM.
• BOM/SAP experience.
• High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.
