Position Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer II, Operational Excellence to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in driving operational improvements, enhancing productivity, and fostering a culture of operational excellence across the organization. This individual will leverage lean methodologies, Six Sigma, and other process optimization tools to identify inefficiencies, design innovative solutions, and implement best practices that elevate operational performance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Lead the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvement initiatives across various departments to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and quality enhancements.
  • Operational Excellence: Champion a culture of operational excellent through strategic and innovative system implementation
  • Data Driven Decisions: Utilize advanced data analytics and KPIs to assess performance gaps, identify root causes, and develop actionable insights for process improvement. Prepare regular reports to track progress and demonstrate value creation.
  • Training & Mentorship: Mentor and train OPEX Engineers, OPEX Champions, and other staff on operational excellence tools, techniques, and best practices to build a high-performance team capable of driving improvement across the organization.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams in production, materials, quality, and other departments to align operational improvement strategies with business objectives. Foster strong working relationships to promote the adoption of improvement initiatives.
  • Change Management: Support change management efforts to ensure the smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and improvements. Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and teams on managing change effectively.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to operational excellence standards, methodologies, and best practices across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and present complex data to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to influence change and drive a continuous improvement culture.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or similar roles, with a proven track record of delivering impactful results.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt, or other relevant process improvement methodologies required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations within a fast-paced industry.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • During a normal day, the OPEX Engineer II may spend part of the day preparing reports and statistics, and another part working with front-line staff, identifying improvement opportunities and coaching employees on how to work more efficiently.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Parts of the workday are performed in a clean room environment, but the majority of the time is spent in an office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time depending on the task.
  • Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 25 lbs.
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
