Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Supervises electrical services inclusive of routine repair, maintenance, variable sized modifications, and installation of electrical systems. Supervises electricians and trades helpers in the knowledge and demonstrates experienced knowledge for established standards, codes and recognized best practice in the Maintenance Department for the Facilities organization. Reports to Facilities Director of Maintenance.



Essential Duties Summary:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage crafts who perform maintenance on electrical equipment and components as required.

  • Performs electrical repair maintenance, informing Director of Maintenance of problems and issues as they develop.

  • Plan, schedule, assigns and monitor electrical crafts daily work and projects to achieve maximum workload and executed work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Communicate with vendors and contractors for supplemental resources so that work to be done will be completed in a safe and a timely manner, ensure construction craft team follows approved university construction standards.

  • Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of electrical expenditures, and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance.

  • Reviews plans, blueprints, and drawings for future buildings, and inspects new buildings to ensure compatibility with existing electrical codes and maintenance standards.

Hiring Range:

$64,197.37-$81,851.64


Education:

Some college or Associate's degree (A.A.) and/or vocational or technical school and/or specialized training or certification.


Required Licensing/Certification:

Maintenance or Journeyman Trade License (Electrical).


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Knowledge of:


  • Policies, procedures, and practices, such as, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, etc. Safety guidelines.

  • Tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.

  • Applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Banner and other job-related software systems.

  • Supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.

  • Electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems.

  • Experience with 480V Motor Control, Transformers, Switch Gears, Variable frequency drives.

  • Zero to 12 volts signaling for HVAC related equipment.

  • Minimal 600V 3 phases.

  • Familiar with 15kV, 4160V, 12470V.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Medium to High Voltage.


Work Experience:

More than seven (7) years supervisory experience, including ten (10) years related experience. Maintenance, Commercial or Industrial electrician experience preferred.

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skill.

  • Communicate information verbally and in writing.
