The University of South Alabama’s department of Central Utilities is seeking to hire an HVAC Mechanic I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Maintains operation of HVAC equipment consisting of water chillers, high temperature water boilers, and auxiliaries support chilled and hot water distribution systems.
Monitors building spaces and controls temperature, humidity, and building pressure using an energy management computer system.
Receives service calls by telephone, computer, and verbally by supervisor.
Analyzes problems to determine corrective action needed.
Works closely with University Police in response to emergencies throughout campus facilities.
Assists in repairing hot water, chill water, and steam systems which include boilers, chillers, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment.
Assists in performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance to include changing filters, belts, bearings, seals, and oil on systems not utilizing Freon.
Transports tools and materials to various work sites using a University vehicle.
Moves items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Climbs ladders to access work areas.
Works in closed areas of extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Responds to service calls after normal hours to evaluate problems and contacts appropriate personnel for needed repairs.
Maintains hot and cold water distribution systems.
Monitors color screen gauge controls.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
