Salary Range:

$75,000-90,000

JOB DESCRIPTION
Serves as a Principal in Residence for a year before moving into a vacant school leadership position. The Principal in Residence is dedicated to transforming students into globally-minded leaders and will work closely with school leadership to drive the school's mission using the Rhino Way approach. This position is ideal for an experienced educator looking to make a transformative impact while learning and growing as a leader in a collaborative, mission-driven environment to achieve the instructional and academic goals of the school for the 2025-2026 school year.

Instructional and School Leadership

Provide exemplary leadership to all members of the NMA community to achieve outstanding performance in the schools mission of preparing each student for college

Work to dramatically improve student achievement by leading the educational program as relevant to school leadership

Develop and communicate the schools systems, culture, and vision, and create a plan to achieve that vision that aligns with the campus-wide vision

Understand and coach in alignment with NMAs curriculum and assessments, and with state and other rigorous standards

Plan for implementation of effective internal and external assessment systems and use data to inform decisions, in alignment with campus-wide vision

Select and share effective curricular and instructional practices from and with other schools

Evaluation and Feedback

Oversee relevant faculty and staff of NMA, including support with recruitment, selection, evaluation, supervision, retention, and dismissal

Lead coaching and data meetings for several grade teams

Manage relevant teaching staff, including professional development, staff observations, curriculum development, staff communication, and scheduling and program decisions, in alignment with current principal and in preparation for full school leadership

Lead relevant teachers to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and effective daily homework, and regular and productive activities for tutoring

Work collaboratively with Principal to foster commitment among faculty and staff to the development and fulfillment of the schools mission and objectives

Hold relevant teachers accountable for meeting high standards for student academic and behavioral performance

Work with Principal and staff on all curricular, instructional, assessment, and professional development issues and activities to ensure data drives classroom instruction

Work with staff to foster consistency among staff in implementing the Student and Family Handbook and other school-wide discipline policies

Work with principal to help facilitate positive faculty dynamics

Work with Special Education Dirctor to ensure 504 accommodations, IEP modifications, and counseling needs are met

Family Support

Maintain communication and relationships with families of NMA, ensuring they are involved with and held accountable for their childrens academic and behavioral performance

Create a plan to build relationships with relevant students and families

Create a plan to communicate regularly with families regarding student performance and academic achievement

Work with relevant staff to correspond regularly with families regarding school policies, trips, events, and milestones

Work with staff to plan, coordinate, and support family meetings and special events

In collaboration with the principal, respond to family concerns promptly and effectively

Student Support/School Culture

Collaborate with school staff to maximize the ability of NMA to support students' academic and socio-emotional development

Provide leadership to all relevant staff and students in establishing a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and fun school culture

Oversee relevant students academic and behavioral programs, including disciplinary decisions, implementation of the Student and Family Handbook, scheduling and class decisions, educational program, and assessment and accountability

Create a plan to ensure that traditions and rituals that support the schools mission are being created and maintained, grade by grade, year to year

Foster consistency in academic and behavioral expectations in and out of class

Create a plan to ensure effective exam preparation to ensure student success

Work with appropriate staff to ensure the smooth administration and effectiveness of the afterschool enrichment programs

Organizational Leadership

Demonstrate a committed drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of NMA

Help oversee school-wide strategic planning and problem-solving

Work with school leaders to lead the schools administrative program

Work collaboratively with other principals/assistant principals across the campus to create a strong and aligned academic program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

A valid principal certification or equivalent (if applicable).

A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership, preferably in a K-8 environment.

Deep commitment to fostering global leadership and resilience in students.

Knowledge and experience in implementing innovative teaching practices that empower students to take on leadership roles.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, families, and the broader community.

A passion for developing young leaders and promoting a school culture focused on preparing learners for life, high academic achievement, and fostering Hmong cultural pride and identity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a leadership-oriented educational setting.

Experience with the Rhino Way or similar leadership frameworks.

Experience in coaching or mentoring educational leaders.
