Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Substation Engineer to support our multi-client environment. In this role, you will lead the design and review of 13-500 kV electrical substation design drawings, including general arrangements, layouts, schematics, and material lists. You will also collaborate with other disciplines, mentor junior engineers, and liaise directly with clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and review of 13 - 500 kV electrical substation design drawings including:
General arrangement and section drawings for AIS and GIS substation layouts including major substation equipment, bus work and associated hardware, control buildings, lighting and lightning protection.
Layouts and schedules for high voltage and low voltage power cables and control cables.
Grounding layouts and details.
One-line and phasing diagrams, low voltage AC & DC schematics and panel layouts.
Material lists.
Leading client meetings and communication being the main point of contact for the electrical discipline.
Monitor the budget and schedule for the electrical scope of work, identifying and raising potential scope changes in accordance with the change management process.
Assigning tasks amongst the electrical design team and providing technical assistance and mentoring to assigned personnel, as required.
Coordination with other substation disciplines such as civil, structural, telecom and protection & control.
Prepare and review drawing lists, engineering reports and design basis documents, specifications and inspection and testing plans/procedures.
Perform and review grounding studies using WinIGS or CDEGS and lighting, and lightning protection studies.
Prepare and review high voltage major equipment specifications and review equipment vendor drawings.
Support materials procurement including material ordering using client materials management systems.
Lead the electrical discipline for substation projects from conceptual design through to construction and commissioning including:
Supporting project proposals including preparing, reviewing and clarifying project scope(s), engineering design estimates and schedules.
Traveling to sites during the design and construction stages as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
Professional Engineer (PE) designation or ability to obtain registration
8-15 years of experience in high-voltage substation engineering (consultancy, utility, or EPC)
Experience designing substations for 13-500 kV systems
Knowledge of industry standards including ANSI, IEEE, NEMA
Strong project coordination skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
Desirable:
Experience working with PacifiCorp, MidAmerican Energy, Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy, or Santee Cooper
Familiarity with substation protection & control systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, WinIGS, CDEGS
Understanding of related disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, and telecom
