Job Title: Controller




Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM
Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 per year
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary



This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with organizational policies, internal procedures, and GAAP standards while managing financial reporting and record-keeping. The Controller will also oversee personnel record management, financial statement preparation, and cash flow management, playing a crucial role in maintaining financial stability.




Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Compliance

• Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls


• Oversee financial record-keeping and reporting processes


• Develop and present financial statements


• Manage cash flow and produce audit work papers


• Coordinate external audits and prepare state and federal tax filings


• Maintain banking relationships and oversee financial regulatory compliance


• Develop annual budgets with cost-saving recommendations

Personnel Management

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting team members


• Establish procedures for personnel activities, including hiring, promotions, and terminations


• Maintain benefits records (medical, dental, pension plans)


• Report workplace incidents to insurance carriers and management


• Ensure compliance with government agency reporting and labor regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with at least 7 years of relevant experience


• 
  Proficiency in Yardi accounting software (mandatory requirement)
  


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Expertise in financial modeling and Excel-based data analysis


• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills


• Strong organizational, time management, and leadership abilities


• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Experience

• Experience in construction or nonprofit accounting


• Familiarity with Vision Point and Paycom software


• Background in residential property accounting and audit compliance


• CPA firm experience


• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
