Job Details:

Mercer University seeks a dedicated and innovative admissions professional to serve as its next Director of Graduate Admissions to advance the College of Education's enrollment strategy and growth.


Responsibilities:

The incumbent leader is responsible for all phases of recruitment, admissions, and student success for graduate programs offered by Tift College of Education. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervision of recruitment and enrollment team members, recruitment travel, inquiry development, application completion and review, student interviewing, professional presentations, and correspondence. Working with a great degree of independence, the incumbent reports regularly to the AVP of enrollment management, but will work cooperatively with the Dean of the College, all academic Program Directors and Program Coordinators, as well as staff members engaged in marketing and communication, data operations, admissions, alumni and development, and career development functions. The incumbent will supervise the development of education partnership agreements, and articulation agreements to the benefit of all teacher education programs.

The Director provides operational leadership in College of Education initiatives related to student enrollment, including Admissions and Recruitment leading to student enrollment. This director-level position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management. The Director of Graduate Admission is expected to:

  • Manage the recruitment and enrollment of qualified graduate students for all Tift graduate initial certification, advanced certification, educational leadership and teacher leadership programs.

  • Oversee the strategy, development, and execution of student search campaigns, Identify sources for the marketing and communications team, such as current students, faculty, and staff, to research information, obtain student quotes and profile information. Cultivate alumni and corporate ambassadors to be utilized in various strategies.

  • Develop and cultivate new education partnerships, along with nurturing existing ones, and provide strategic leadership for leveraging the aforementioned partnerships for the recruitment of new students. Meet with School District leaders, Tech College leaders and Mercer alumni in support of new student recruitment opportunities.

  • Show initiative and leadership in assuming new responsibilities, identifying enrollment opportunities, and setting a standard of professionalism for the admissions staff. Recommend to the Assistant Vice President policy and practices designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the admissions office.

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with Tift faculty and staff, as well as staff members across the University to participate in and/or execute general functions of the office -- student interviews, information sessions, webinars, new student orientation and on-boarding, school visitations, open houses, college fairs, etc.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in higher education administration or admissions leadership are required.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Database enrollment management techniques;

  • Ability to implement ‘state of the art” marketing and recruitment strategies;

  • Planning, organizing and management skills;

  • Leadership and team building skills;

  • Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking);

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for letters, mailings, etc.;

  • Understanding the specific needs of adult learners and graduate students;

  • Sound knowledge and experience of recruitment, admissions and financial aid.
