Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Structural Engineer - Project Manager in our Mount Pleasant, SC office. The position requires a strong understanding of structural design with previous experience design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures consisting of bridges, buildings, and site structural design for commercial and industrial clients. Familiarity in marine structural design and knowledge of permitting in the Southeast, coastal environment preferred. This role requires regular interaction with our clients. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineering (PE) license required. Typical Duties:
Perform engineering calculations and preparation of reports, feasibility studies, permit applications, inspections, construction plans, and specifications.
Visit clients, job sites and consultant offices as needed to develop and support project needs.
Interface with other disciplines and consultants as needed.
Prepare, coordinate and review work plans prepared on CADD
Work in a team environment.
Efficiently communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas.
Handle design activities for multiple clients simultaneously and efficiently.
Minimum Requirements:Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Professional Engineering License required.
Experience: 5+ years of full-time experience completing structural design calculations and drawings
Skills:
Ability to work a regular work schedule of 730AM-530PM Monday-Thursday and 730AM -1130AM Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Use of AutoCAD will be expected.
Experience with finite element modeling - RISA, SAP2000, Enercalc, SupportIT
Experience working on marine and coastal structures and buildings
Experience with construction observation and oversight
Efficient work ethic to complete tasks on time and within budgets
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of construction industry
Ability to work alone and within team
Experienced in Private and Public sector projects
