Job Description:

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.


The QHSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role ensures the organization maintains high operational standards while minimizing risks and promoting a safe working environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Responsibilities will include the following, but not limited to:


• Develop, implement, and monitor quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 9001, etc.).


• Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess quality performance and drive continuous improvement.


• Collaborate with departments to identify process inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.


• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001, etc.).


• Develop and implement safety training programs for employees.


• Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations, recommending corrective and preventive actions.


• Maintain records of workplace injuries, near misses, and compliance reports.


• Oversee environmental policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (ISO 14001, EPA, etc.).


• Monitor and manage waste disposal, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.


• Implement environmental training programs for employees.


• Provide ongoing education and training on QHSE policies and best practices.


• Foster a safety-first culture through communication, workshops, and leadership engagement.


• Serve as the primary point of contact for QHSE-related concerns and initiatives.


Any other reasonable duties allocated by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:


• Excellent organizational skills


• Excellent written and verbal skills


• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA standards.


• Experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.


• Proficiency in QHSE management software and reporting tools.


• Thorough knowledge of transportation industry, logistics and freight forwarding


• Thorough knowledge of successful project management


• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite


• Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines


• Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, QualityManagement, or related field.


• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in compliance, logistics, or operations management.


- OSHA Certification, required.


ENVIRONMENT:


75% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. 25% travel will be required in support of the position's responsibilities.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
