The Management Associate program is our entry level program for college graduates to help accelerate their professional development. Management Associates are provided between 12-24 months of training across multiple functional areas with work assignments designed to assist in both personal and skill-set development. The role may include rotational assignment(s) within the department. This program is designed to strengthen leadership capabilities to prepare the college graduate for advanced roles within our operations or in several disciplines that support our operations. U. S. Steel has an opening for a Management Associate in our Logistics organization.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Truck Operations:
Coordinate daily truck shipments from USS operated facilities.
Communicate with commercial representatives to satisfy and fulfill customer demands.
Interpret and execute planning forecast to obtain effective truck capacity at various facilities.
Manages daily truck dock schedule and coordinates with carrier base to prioritize available equipment.
Collaborate with logistics administrative team on lane pricing and carrier participation.
Manages tasks within the transportation management system and is responsible for timely recording and reporting of operational performance.
International:
Contact within Logistics for shipments that cross international borders.
Execute timely and accurate reporting required for import/export compliance and audits (including ISO document review and audit preparation).
Monitor Customs Invoices (CI) System to ensure border crossing documents are being generated/distributed. Prepare RFQ's for competitive bid on Freight requirements.
Interact with various functional areas including Procurement, Sales, Customer Service, Treasury, Law, Sales and Operations Planning, Plant Operations and Systems.
Provide support to Import Compliance Manager on an as needed basis.
Truck/Rail/Barge Pricing and Rate Administration:
Receives requests from various sources for Truck/Rail/Barge rates and provides analysis or details on established rates
Manages transportation contracts, profiles, amendments, and templates for steel products.
Audits payment information and resolves billing issues with the transportation companies through daily activities of assigned accounts.
Works with operations, mill accounting, accounts payable, customer service, sales, procurement, processed products and systems in executing various freight related responsibilities.
Maintains accuracy of purchase orders, routes, fuel, car information, allocations, Oracle Transportation Management security access, and routing guides.
Project Management:
Maintain control phase in already rolled out projects, streamline transactional/manual processes, develop, and lead or participate in cross functional projects.
Utilize six sigma methodologies and documentation to execute project work and cost savings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain or equivalent
Degree completion required within the last 3-years
Less than two years of experience in a related field -Project management experience or training preferred
Experience working with transportation companies or suppliers
Excellent analytical and organization skills
Facilitate cross functional initiatives
Training and experience with six sigma methodologies
Oracle Transportation Management experience is preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Minitab)
