The Lead Molding Technician will schedule daily production floor activities that pertain to all required tasks. The Lead Technician will be responsible for advanced set up, changeovers and troubleshooting of injection molding equipment to ensure that production needs are met and a quality product is manufactured. Work as liaison between manufacturing and maintenance, create maintenance work orders, constantly improve skill level to keep up with advances in production processes.
This role is 100% onsite at our Southington, CT manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform all functions of all Technician levels.
Maintain responsibility for workflow, production, training of new employees and answering job-related questions.
Recommend advancements; implement new or changed procedures.
Work alongside tooling, planning and engineering on resolving daily production needs.
Identify and lead continuous improvement activities.
Assist Engineers in the development, build and testing of new processes.
Provide leadership for daily operations and technical assistance to other groups.
Ensure efficient shift hand-off and communication.
Serve as a resource and coach to other Technicians in area; model company values and support strategic initiatives.
This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).
Engage others; promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency in multiple skill clusters, including electronics, mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of tools and components used in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting simple to complex motor control relays, contactors, and jog circuits.
Strong automated and semi-automated machinery and process knowledge.
Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization.
Proficiency with computers and computerized controls.
Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities.
Ability to troubleshoot multiple machines.
Cross trained in multiple functional areas/departments.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Previous experience with automated and semi-automated equipment.
High School Diploma, or GED with 8 to 10 years of manufacturing experience; Technical Certificate with 5 to 7 years of experience; or Associate's Degree with up 3 to 5 years of experience.
