The Role
As the Senior Director of Engineering, you will lead a team of talented engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and strategic oversight while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. You will be instrumental in shaping the product roadmap, ensuring the successful delivery of product features, and driving the adoption of best practices across engineering disciplines. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership experience, and a passion for creating solutions that have a direct impact on the automotive industry's operations.
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Lead and scale the engineering team to deliver high-quality, scalable SaaS products for Fixed Operations in the automotive industry.
Define and execute the technical vision and strategy in alignment with the company's overall goals and product roadmap.
Collaborate with product management, design, and other key stakeholders to prioritize and deliver features that meet customer needs.
Drive continuous improvements in engineering processes, from development to deployment, to ensure high standards of code quality, security, and performance.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Oversee resource allocation and team performance, ensuring optimal team structure and skill sets.
Manage engineering budgets, timelines, and project priorities, ensuring timely delivery of strategic initiatives.
Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking:
Monitor quality and performance levels through regular analysis of KPI statistics
Undertake organizational reviews to ensure optimum utilization of local and regional resources, leveraging Offshore capacity as demand requires
Ensures software delivery plans are prepared and revised according to Product Management prioritization of work
Monitor and control the financial performance against defined revenue and expense targets.
Leadership:
Provides strategic thought leadership to support continuous business transformation and advancement
Actively contribute to the overall objectives of the organization, both locally and globally, according to CDK strategy
Provide ongoing performance and development reviews through THRIVE and provide salary recommendations to senior management
Responsible for Associates' engagement improvement
Define succession planning and manage the talent development
Collaboration:
Work in collaboration with Product Management, providing guidance, assistance and support, to ensure developments meet expected level of quality, specifications and timing
Collaborate with other department heads to provide technical expertise in support of operational objectives.
Represent Engineering at any regional senior management meeting
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
8+ years of management experience
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Programming and design experience
Experience utilizing Agile and Scrum software development methodologies
Self-motivated, capable of driving change in complex environments
High: drive for results, strategic orientation, collaboration, dealing with ambiguity, business acumen
Demonstrable understanding of software engineering processes, including awareness of delivery requirements such as time and cost & an ability to recognize and manage performance with a focus on continuous improvement
Salary Range: $$300,000 - $320,000
CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
