Job Summary
Installs, repairs, and inspects smoke and fire suppressions systems; inspects, tests, and repairs fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels, and peripheral equipment.
Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
Inspects, repairs, or replaces smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads; repairs and tests dry/wet systems.
Tests fire alarm systems using appropriate diagnostic programs and equipment.
Performs tests on fire pumps and standpipe systems.
Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
5 years of Verifiable journey level experience in the electrical field; OR
Certificate in Department of Labor (DOL) apprenticed electrical trade
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
Possesses a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire
SKILLS
Required
Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information
