Sitters work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct observation of at-risk patients to ensure safety. They may assist with non-clinical tasks like setting up meals, reading, or accompanying ambulatory patients. Personal care is only provided as directed by a nurse and within the sitter's training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Positions self at the patient's bedside to maintain constant visual observation and never leaves the patient unattended unless instructed by the nurse.
Communicates professionally and respectfully while demonstrating patience and the ability to support confused, uncooperative, or at-risk patients.
Receives a verbal report from the nurse on patient care needs, diagnosis, communication barriers, and special considerations.
Monitors patient activity and behavior, reporting any concerns or changes to nursing staff.
Ensures a safe and clean environment.
Accurately and legibly records observations and relevant data.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma (or equivalent)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
PAY RANGE: $15.50 - $20.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
