Position Description:

Position Overview:

The terminal operator is responsible for performing duties related to the terminal operation, and the safe and responsible operation of all applicable machinery and equipment.


Essential Functions:

The following list serves as an example of the functions and physical demands of this position; however, it is not an exhaustive list of all daily activities.


  • Regularly required to stand for up to 10-12 hours (with legally mandated rest breaks), use hands for tasks, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, walk, and climb stairs, ladders, and tanks (over 40 feet).
  • Engage in physical activities including stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Consistently lift and/or manipulate objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including push/pull movements.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform light maintenance around the facility as directed by the Terminal Manager.
  • Facilitate the loading and offloading of liquid asphalt trucks and vessels to and from above-ground tanks. This includes Climbing tanks, opening tank valves, boarding vessels, and carrying out additional tasks assigned by the Terminal Manager or Senior Management.
  • Reconcile daily inventory, sales, and receipts.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, Process Control Guidelines, and Safe Work Practices, ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Maintain schedule flexibility, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, honest, and organized. Strong judgment, basic math skills, and excellent communication skills are essential.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Industry-related experience is a plus.
  • Must pass a drug screen and physical.
  • Must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).


Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Incumbent must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided, including hearing protection as required), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions – frequently in extreme heat, the most demanding time of the season.

Employees may sit for an hour or more at a time.


Independent Action:

Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with senior teammates and Terminal Manager where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.
