Job Summary The Payroll Assistant will play a role in the timely and accurate processing of payroll for the organization. The role will be responsible for ensuring that employees are paid correctly and on time, while adhering to all applicable laws and regulations. The duties will include processing payroll information, verifying timesheets, managing employee benefits, and addressing payroll-related inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with processing weekly production payroll and bi-weekly payroll - in compliance with Fair Labor Standards Acts (FLSA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and State rules and regulation, including but not limited to maintaining and analyzing employee earnings taxes, voluntary and involuntary deductions
Calculate payroll checks and adjustments
Generate, review and analyze various payroll reports detecting errors and discrepancies
Generate and distribute pay checks and payroll reports
Reconcile payroll data with Kronos data and labor hours
Maintain the integrity of the payroll and time keeping system
Respond to employee and management inquiries

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1-year payroll or accounting experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in business management, Finance or Accounting preferred
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
Prior experience with Kronos and Ulti Pro
Bilingual: fluent in Spanish (speak, read, and write)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Analytical skills: ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations; ability to review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine priorities
Effective communication skills: ability to speak with employees at all levels
Time management & organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality required
Ability to perform duties with minimal direction
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desk phones, and smartphones. The position will also be required to regularly visit production facility work environments.

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
