Job Description:


Title: Manager, Accounting



POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting, manages the accounts payable processes and other related accounting functions to ensure timely, accurate reporting of financial activity for the College and the College Foundation.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes accounting for capital projects and equipment, including tagging equipment, performing annual inventory and updating disposed assets.


Reviews ledger accounts and prepares monthly financial statements for the Foundation.


Prepares information for the Foundation's 990 tax return.


Manages all accounts payable functions, including problem-solving complex issues.


Supervises accounts payable staff.


Reconciles and resolves complex accounts.


Reviews grant billings, budgets and research related issues as needed.


Assists with preparation and review of the College's financial statements.


Assists the Director with implementation of/compliance with new Governmental Accounting and Financial Accounting Standards


Researches and resolves complex questions/issues regarding various accounting topics for the institution.


Participates in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of accounting standards, best practices and requirements.


Develops and innovates processes to improve efficiency within the department.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field


Two (2) years' related experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure or actively pursuing CPA licensure



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application, as well as an understanding of applicable federal and state laws.


Ability to interpret College's policies and procedures, as well as Tennessee Board of Regents, state and federal rules and regulations.


Ability to solve practical problems and analyze complex financial and procedural issues in a timely manner.


Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.


Ability to establish priorities to meet objectives.


Must possess excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and a service-oriented attitude.

Rate of Pay: $57,836.00 - $72,295.00 depending on experience
