The Chief Engineer (CE) is part of the onsite leadership of building, equipment and grounds condition of the hotel reporting to the Director of Engineering & Security. This position will help lead and/or perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel. The CE is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized maintenance shop and for the security of the hotel inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The CE's focus on guest and associate satisfaction, expense control and product quality and will lead to their contribution to the overall goals of the hotel. Operational/Functional:
Maintain, coordinate and monitor preventive maintenance programs of all building equipment and guest rooms
Assist Director of Engineering (DOE) with all aspects of Capital Improvement Projects including budgeting, forecasting, bidding and selection of potential contractors. Approver of Project Approval Requests for assigned properties
Assists DOE with all Emergency procedures and preparedness.
Follow up on projects and assignments, coordinated with DOE
Audit and inspect assigned facilities as needed, in coordination with Operations management
Manage third party vendors and national account partners, as required, setting clear expectations and accountability
Foster clear communications with key stakeholders and management of assigned properties
Strategy and Planning:
Develop, recommend and direct the operation, policies, procedures, plans and programs of the Engineering Department
Proactively track Capital & Operations projects, asset inventory, and contracts
Participate in Standard Operating Procedures development and rollout
Review potential new systems, equipment, and programs and recommend for use to senior management and business unit partners
Actively participate and represent the Engineering team in renovation projects and conversions of new properties up to and including punch walks before inventory is turned over to the operations team
Financial Management:
Analyze accounting records and data for operating costs and variance reports.
Use approved contracts for services.
Identify opportunities to improve the overall bottom line of Property, Operations and Maintenance expenditures
Managing your Team
Interview, train and coach all staff.
Ensure team members receive proper training applicable to their position and career aspirations and in accordance with company policy and/or local laws
Responsible for monitoring, measuring, and recognizing performance of team members who directly report to the role and indirect reports

Qualifications and Skills
A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competence.
High school diploma or equivalent vocational training acceptable based on work experience, minimum of 5 years direct experience in the maintenance of mechanical, life/safety, electrical and plumbing operations of hotels or commercial buildings, and 2 years supervisory experience.
A strong background in facilities systems and preventative maintenance programs across typical building disciplines (i.e. HVAC, roofs, electrical, plumbing, etc.), as well as building management systems, is expected.
Track record of delivering exceptional support to colleagues, clients, customers and/or guests
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, and enforce hotel's standard policies, procedures, and programs
An ability to respond quickly and develop solutions for common inquiries, complaints, and urgent issues, and deal with a wide variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to clearly present action plans and updates to senior management and ownership representatives on key projects and urgent matters
Experience in working with and managing third party vendors, establishing partnerships as needed, and setting clear expectations and accountability
Working knowledge of life/safety systems, plumbing codes, electrical codes, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, water treatment program, blueprints/schematics.
Demonstrable expertise in analysis and action taking
Excellent oral and written communication
Excellent organizational skills
Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Union experience preferred.

Pay Range
$75,000 to $85,000. Base pay offer may vary depending on various factors, including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific/overall experience
