Survey Technician Thomas & Hutton is a privately held professional services company founded in 1946. To provide quality service and project support to our public and private clients, our services include Civil, Environmental, Structural and Marine Engineering; Land Surveying; Land Planning; Landscape Architecture; Geographic Information Systems and Construction Administration.
Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a Survey Technician to join our Survey Department in Charlotte, NC. This is an in-office position.
Survey Technicians are responsible for inputting deeds and plats into AutoCAD, preparing Boundary, Topographical, ALTA/NSPS and Right of Way plats and producing final subdivision and Recombination plats to be recorded using Civil 3D and Carlson software.
Minimum Requirements:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. B.S. in Surveying or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience preferred. CST Level I or II (Office) certification preferred.
Experience:2+ years of Survey mapping experience in Boundaries, ALTA/NSPS and Topographic Surveys.
Skills:
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, with Civil 3D and Carlson Software preferred.
Knowledge of surveying practices and procedures (Field & Office).
Ability to work 7:30AM - 5:30PM Monday-Thursday and 7:30AM - 11:30AM Fridays with occasional overtime.
Ability to read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans.
Must be able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
Physical Requirements should you need to cover for another survey staff member in the field (possibly on occasion; rarely, if at all):
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
Ability to climb hills and walk long distances.
Ability to traverse different types of terrain.
Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.
