A Master's degree in a related field and five years of professional related experience or a Bachelor's degree and eight years of professional related experience is required.

The Assistant Dean for Administrative Advising is an administrative position within the Dean of the College division.
Administrative Advising responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Student Development
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to consistently apply student development theory in the creation and development of programs as well as in advising responsibilities. Knowledge of best practices and ability to consistently apply these practices in advising responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to consistently identify and recognize legal and ethical principles of the profession. Demonstrated ability to consistently follow departmental protocol regarding legal and ethical issues.
Advising
Demonstrated ability to consistently apply culturally appropriate advising, helping and coaching techniques while also recognizing the uniqueness of every individual. Demonstrated ability to accurately and consistently maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, understand and implement University administrative advising protocols. Demonstrated ability to consistently follow crises response protocol and consistently make appropriate decisions to initiate crisis intervention responses.
Communication Skills
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in all relationships, effective active listening skills and appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
University Policies
Demonstrated knowledge of policies by providing accurate information to students, staff, faculty and parents. Demonstrated familiarity with major university publications.
Administrative
Demonstrated ability to effectively and consistently apply time management, problem solving, and planning skills in the implementation of processes or programs. Demonstrated ability to effectively use technical solutions to assist in the timely collection/maintenance of key data and records and within university, division and department guidelines. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet functional accountabilities while staying within assigned budget constraints.
