The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed. This position reports to Plant Supervisor.
Requirements
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Cleans offices, restrooms and other areas, restocks supplies in break and rest areas
Removes trash from areas, changes light bulbs, cleans fixtures
Maintains yard and equipment
Cleans conveyor belt areas and performs minor preventive maintenance and replaces worn/damaged components as needed. Assists with other maintenance as needed
Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies, OSHA, TCEQ and other regulators
Assists raw materials delivery drivers in unloading to correct stockpiles/silos
Performs other duties as assigned
Must possess a Class C driver's license with a clean driving record
Must be a self-started and a team player
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English strongly preferred
Must be willing to work in a team environment with limited supervision
Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions
Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
Physical Requirements
This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis
Must be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform duties
Must be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs. from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis
Working Conditions:
All time is spent in an outside setting that may require various periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc. Must be able to work early mornings and/or evenings, 12 hour shifts, and Monday thru Saturday schedule.
