Job Summary
Indiana University South Bend is looking for an energetic and results-driven HR Professional to act as a strategic business partner, aligning HR practices to support the strategic goals of the campus.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Serves as a trusted advisor who supports an inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce, through knowledge collaboration, and leadership providing high level guidance and resources to campus leaders, faculty and staff.
Collaborates with department heads to understand their needs, goals, and challenges and develop HR strategies and plans that support their objectives.
Collaborates and develops recruiting strategies to meet current and/or anticipated staffing needs; ensure recruiting and staffing needs are met promptly.
Provides HR expertise in the areas of feedback, employee relations, development and coaching, compensation, and recruitment.
Participates in the continual development of HR programs, identifying retention strategies and compensation/equity pay analysis.
Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support to supervisors/managers.
Coaches supervisors in determining the best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, and conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university and its culture.
Develops HR-led, value-added programs in areas of training (day-to-day skills), development, career mobility, and job performance.
Educates, coaches, and partners with supervisors on performance management.
General Responsibilities
Utilizes and applies in-depth HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from COEs.
Collaborates and develops recruiting strategies to meet current and/or anticipated staffing needs; ensures recruiting and staffing needs are met in a timely manner.
Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify "high priority" retention needs.
Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
Provides HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on issues to leaders and managers
Collaborates with HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client's needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.
Provides support for ensuring an environment of diversity and inclusion.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required (degree in Human Resources preferred)
WORK EXPERIENCE

3 years Human Resources or related progressively responsible experience

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
