The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating and optimizing manufacturing processes aimed at enhancing quality, cost, delivery, and safety. This role also involves defining and developing NPI (New Product Introduction) capital equipment, tooling, and workflow processes to support the successful launch of new programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop manufacturing process plans for NPI launches for all new programs.
Analyze and optimize workflow, design equipment layout, and ensure workspace efficiency, ergonomic safety, and effectiveness.
Create and update Operational Method Sheets (OMS) and work instructions, ensuring they align with current Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
Collaborate with vendors to communicate requirements and facilitate the procurement of capital equipment and tools; prepare documentation for purchasing and justification.
Troubleshoot and resolve product and process issues; drive improvements in tooling, gauging, and purchased materials and services to meet quality and productivity goals.
Maintain accurate product standards and evaluate product performance to recommend and implement actions that improve gross margin.
Improve process flow and system reliability using time studies and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Identify and implement strategies to maximize equipment utilization.
Provide operator training related to process improvements.
Apply Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) concepts as needed.
Evaluate and recommend new capital equipment, tooling, and processes for integration into existing methods; assist in justifying and implementing new technologies.
Assist the planning and scheduling teams with capacity planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, or a combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in 3D solid modeling and/or 2D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
Experience with dynamic nesting and strong background in process development, Lean, problem-solving tools, and value stream mapping.
Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and quality/process capability tools (Cpk, GD&T, etc.).
Scope of the Role:
This position is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to meet specific goals related to quality, cost, delivery, and safety. The individual in this role will work autonomously with minimal supervision and no direct reports.

Process Management: Proficient in organizing workflows, separating and combining tasks for efficiency, measuring performance, and finding opportunities for improvement.
Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to work independently, make decisions, and provide leadership in process development efforts. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for engaging with cross-functional teams and vendors.
