POSITION SUMMARY



Provide career advising and programming to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni of the University of Richmond's School of Arts and Sciences, Jepson School of Leadership, and Robins School of Business. Serve as Career Development's lead representative in UR's community of practice convened by VP of Inclusion and Belonging. Drive best practices in inclusion and belonging across the career development team. Develop relationships with campus and external constituents including employers, alumni, faculty/staff and parents to fulfill the goals and mission of Career Services (CS).



CONTACTS:



Internal:


  • Students: advising

  • Staff, faculty, and administrators: promoting career-development services, developing opportunity leads, stewarding relationship and partnerships






External:


  • Alumni: advising and relationship stewardship

  • Employers (all levels of organization): learning about emerging trends, persuading to hire UR students or participate in career programs

  • Parents: Promoting office services, answering questions about student experience and persuading to hire UR students

  • Other university career centers, national, state, and regional professional associations: benchmarking and best practices






SUPERVISION EXERCISED



Supervisory responsibility may include leading teams on various projects or initiatives, student staff, and potentially graduate student supervision (at the discretion of direct supervisor).



WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:



Minimal to no physical demands. Some evening and weekends expected, including major Advancement and CS programs



QUALIFICATIONS:




Knowledge, skills & ability



Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to inclusive practice in higher education and career development. Knowledge of career development and student development theories, research and practices, and recruiting trends. Other skills and abilities that are integral to this position include:




  • Ability to advise students, alumni and organizations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Extensive ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide range of constituents

  • Supervision and leadership skills

  • Outcomes assessment, learning outcomes and evaluation strategies

  • Outstanding teamwork abilities

  • Innovation and creativity in program development, processes, relationship development and other functions of the position

  • Development of metrics and methods for continuous improvement of processes, goals, and strategies

  • Proven presentation, group facilitation, and teaching skills

  • MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory certification preferred







Education & Experience:




Master's in Business, Education/Counseling/Higher Education Administration, Inclusion and Belonging Leadership (or related field) or equivalent experience required.


5-6 years' experience in career services, business, higher education, corporate human resources, workforce development, workforce pathways or equivalent required.




Work Hours:




Full Time Exempt position


Monday-Friday 8:30a -5:00p


7.75 hours/day, 38.75 hours/week




Salary:




Pay Grade 7 ($55,640.00 -$73,736.00)
