Job Summary | NOTE: No prior knowledge on the topic of tobacco use or public health is needed. The program will provide comprehensive training. NOTE: The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed. Position Objective: To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families and community members across Eastern Kentucky. Position Description: Supervised by the Program Director, the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include: 1. Prevention Education 2. Information Dissemination 3. Youth Empowerment 4. Professional Development Position Responsibilities: • Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes. • Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes. • Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents, teachers, staff or administrators in target area school and community sites when requested. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives. |

Preferred Education/Experience | • Pre-employment criminal background check, employment background check, as required by school districts. • Evidence-based curriculum training must be obtained within 1 month of employment, and prior to in-school or related program delivery.
