The Role



Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

Manages a program or a function within the larger organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy. Program Manager responsibilities include: planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large technical services-type contract.




Must Have



Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 8 years of progressive technical experience in Electrical Engineering. A Master's of Science degree in Engineering and professional registration with 6 years of Electrical Engineering. A combination of education and experience may be used in lieu of degree.

Must be a current Ingalls Shipbuilding Employee.




Nice to Have

• Experience in Electrical Design covering Wireway/Cable Design and Electrical Equipment Arrangement Design or Comparable craft experience combined;
  
• Minimum 2 years Frontline management experience; Quality Checking experience; Proficiency in Auto-cad and 3-D Ship Constructor and Cable Routing knowledge and methodology
  
• Familiarity with all CAM (Control Account Manager) duties is highly preferred.
