DNV is seeking a Indirect Tax Manager that will be responsible for leading and managing the Company's indirect tax compliance, audit management, and tax-related customer service efforts. This role is responsible for all North American indirect taxes including, sales, use, GST/HST/QST, VAT, personal property taxes, miscellaneous business and license taxes, and all other taxes not directly related to income tax. This role will be located in our Katy, Texas office on a hybrid schedule.
What You'll Do
Lead all indirect tax activities including the implementation and maintenance of indirect tax best practices and internal controls with the assistance of internal staff and external resources.
Oversee and prepare the accurate, timely and efficient filings of indirect tax returns.
Oversee and prepare the annual personal property tax returns.
Manage and maintain tax calendars, timely filing of returns, filing positions, supporting workpapers, tax payments, and internal controls.
Act as a trusted advisor to GSS Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and other Business Areas on Indirect and Property tax issues: including research and analysis of tax impacts of new product offerings, billing tax engines, and both internal and external customer tax inquiries.
Review and approve contract language related to Indirect or Property tax and the impacts of vendor contracts and leases.
Develop and maintain procedures for calculation and payment of use tax.
Identify and implement indirect tax operational process improvements, focusing on controls, automation, efficiency, and analytics.
Review indirect and property tax liability reconciliations, including determining the adequacy of balances.
Develop exemption certificate maintenance process for both vendors and customers.
Collaborate with Business Areas to integrate tax considerations into business operations, contracts, and transactions.
Direct the strategy on all audits of indirect tax to mitigate the impact on business.
Engage/negotiate with tax authorities, responding to inquiries, and resolving any tax-related issues in a timely manner.
Responsible for management of all indirect and property tax audits/VDAs, whether handled internally or with the 3rd party assistance.

What is required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation or finance
5+ years of relevant indirect tax experience
CPA or CMI certification a plus
Role is considered a working manager
Strong knowledge of US indirect tax, Canadian GST/HST/QST, and VAT
Must have experience with indirect taxes in the software industry
Experience interacting with tax auditors and audit defense
Experience with general ledger systems such as Oracle, billing systems, and internal tax engines.
Experience with OneSource software
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and SharePoint
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a dynamic environment in order to meet internal and external deadlines
Track record of taking initiative to drive individual and team results
Experience effectively working in cross-functional teams and leading associates and prioritizing deliverables
Comfortable and confident in a results-driven team-oriented environment
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
