Position Overview



The Chester Upland School District is hiring a dedicated Bilingual (Spanish) Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide one-on-one academic and behavioral support for an elementary-level student. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and effective educational experience. The PCA will collaborate with teachers and staff to address the student's unique needs, including feeding, toileting, and physical positioning.



Reliable transportation is required (applicants must have their own vehicle).




Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct instruction and support in cognitive, motor, feeding, self-help, and behavioral areas under teacher direction.
  
  


• Promote and maintain the health and safety of students, ensuring a hazard-free environment.
  
  


• Assist students with personal hygiene tasks, including washing, toileting, diapering, and clothing changes.
  
  


• Observe, monitor, and manage student behavior according to established guidelines.
  
  


• Support physical development activities, including lifting, positioning, and using orthopedic equipment.
  
  


• Help prepare students for integration into mainstream classes when applicable.
  
  


• Attend training sessions and in-service programs related to medical interventions and instructional strategies.
  
  


• Maintain accurate records of student progress and collaborate effectively with teachers, caseworkers, and staff.
  
  


• Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and facilitate students' social interactions.
  
  


• Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills




Required Skills:

• Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  
  


• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR procedures.
  
  


• Familiarity with basic record-keeping techniques.
  
  


• Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  
  

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma, GED, or higher degree.
  
  


• Clearances: PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Clearance, PA FBI Fingerprints.
  
  


• Completion of a TB Test and Physical Exam.
  
  


• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  
  


• Compliance with ACT 24 and ACT 31.
