Holland Hall was established in 1922 and currently serves approximately 1,000 preK through 12th grade students in a coeducational setting. THIS POSITION

As a Middle School French teacher, you will teach students in grades 4 through 8 at various levels of proficiency. In fourth and fifth grades, students meet every other week for a casual  introduction to the language and culture. Sixth through eighth graders engage in a full academic course designed to be equivalent to French I in a traditional high school setting.

In addition to teaching, you will serve as an advisor to a group of students in one grade level, fostering their academic and personal growth. You will also be an active participant in the middle school community through grade-level team meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings, and school-wide events. Other responsibilities include chaperoning field trips and contributing to daily school life through duties such as lunch and recess supervision.

Interested candidates must have a bachelor’s degree. Previous teaching experience with the target age is also desired. A master’s degree and independent school experience are preferred but not required. Special consideration will be given to exemplary candidates who can also support a significant extracurricular activity or coach a sport.

Working Conditions


  • Work day from 7:45 to 3:45. Faculty often must prepare lesson plans and meet with parents/students well before and after the above mentioned times.


  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.


  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity.


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions on a twice-daily basis for approximately thirty minutes at a time.
