Job Description:

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time outreach and transition services coordinator to engage in regular and systematic communication with prospective students with disabilities including making initial contact, following up on inquiries and providing information and presentations as requested; attend local education agencies (LEAs) events; build relationships that benefit the college with LEA staff and justice system partners and informs them of changes in academic and student onboarding; and coordinate and/or provide supportive services to support academic persistence and success of students with disabilities. Core work hours for this position are Mon. - Fri., 8:00am - 4:30pm (1 hour lunch); however, evening and weekend hours are regularly required for this position. This position requires significant local travel in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties.

Essential Duties

  • Engages in regular and systematic communication with prospective students with disabilities including making initial contact, following up on inquiries and providing information and presentations as requested
  • Attends local education agency (LEA) events; builds relationships that benefit the college with LEA staff and justice system partners and informs them of changes in academic and student onboarding; and promotes the college at schools, college fairs, community events and special events throughout the region
  • Coordinates and/or provides seamless support to enrollment specialists and student support services during the onboarding process to support enrollment of students with disabilities
  • Facilitates students with disabilities transitions into college by creating informational and social networks and assists them through campus processes, and connects students with campus and community support programs
  • Collaborates with the financial aid department to provide information to prospective students with disabilities about scholarships, financial aid and vocational rehabilitation, and other community agencies serving students with disabilities
  • Works in collaboration with campus academic departments to provide LEAs and justice system partners with opportunities to meet with faculty; assists with scheduling classroom visits; and provides follow-up to students who faculty have visited
  • Contributes to the college's annual and five-year comprehensive department assessment process
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of related experience, preferably in disability services, counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make presentations to various-sized groups
  • Strong Microsoft Office and database skills
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Preference will be given to candidates with community college experience

 

Supplemental Information

This full-time administrative position is grant-funded and non-standard. The starting salary for this position will likely range from $60,200 to $73,850 depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience as well as grant specifications. 

The core working hours for this position are Mon. - Fri., 8:00am - 4:30pm (1 hour lunch); however, evening and weekend hours are regularly required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required. This position requires significant local travel.
