POSITION SUMMARY: The attendant position is responsible for Weinstein Center Member Services and Well-Being Center Welcome Desk operations during assigned shifts. Primary responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and information to all members, assigning lockers, distributing and collecting informal recreation equipment, and processing registration and payment for programs and services. Creates and enrolls members in the member services software (Fusion).


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides excellent customer service while serving as the first point of contact for members.

  • Greets members while checking their membership status for entrance into the facility.

  • Provides current program and schedule information to members by telephone and in-person. Answers questions and distribute printed materials as needed.

  • Utilizes software to enroll members in a variety of University Recreation and Health Promotion programs or services.

  • Responsible for daily cash flow through the Fusion program and works independently with minimal supervision. Assists with cash/check deposits as needed.

  • Enroll members in the software system and assists members in downloading and using FusionGo app for entry and other communication tools.

  • Understands and enforces policies and procedures.

  • Provides accurate membership information to prospective members. Leads tours of the facilities when needed.

  • Distributes and collects informal recreation equipment following all check-out procedures. Assists with daily reporting and retrieval of unreturned items and replacement of equipment.

  • Documents and assigns lockers and combinations for all locker rooms inside the Weinstein Center.

  • Processes daily racquetball and squash court reservations.

  • Processes all daily guest fee transactions and completion of required paperwork and waivers.

  • Documents and stores all lost & found items. Assists with records, storage and retrieval of items, and donation of unclaimed items.

  • Maintains and documents POS (point of sale) merchandise inventory, including monthly reconciliation report.

  • Supports Member Services employees through scheduling them on WhenToWork and managing the GroupMe.

  • May be required to work special events or attend training outside normal hours of operation.

  • Collaborates with other areas of the Health & Well-being Unit to set and achieve established goals.

  • Works with a diverse group of people including, but not limited to: students, faculty/staff and community members

  • Advocates for awareness and understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion as it relates to all people in Health & Well-being facilities, programs, and communications. Performs all duties under a commitment to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Advocates for the educational and cultural benefits of providing diversity and inclusion in Health & Well-being.

  • Follows all emergency procedures in compliance with the risk management plan. Complies with all University Recreation TEAM standards.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:


• No direct supervision; assists with occasional training of Student and PT staff


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:


• Requires employee to work mainly inside in an office environment; requires light lifting - up to 20 pounds


• Facility Dog will be present during assigned shifts at the Well-Being Center Welcome Desk


QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, skills & ability:


• Excellent customer service skills and experience with cash handling/cashiering


• Must be able to perform basic computer functions including internet searching, email, word, excel; must be able to learn specialized software (Fusion) to perform duties at both locations


• Ability to be trained in basic handler techniques to supervise the Facility Dog working at the Well-Being Center Welcome Desk


• Current certification in CPR required within 30 days of employment


• Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule


Education & experience:


• High School graduate (or equivalent) required; some college study preferred


• Experience with cash handling preferred


• Experience with customer service/retail preferred


• Experience working in a University environment preferred


• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at University of Richmond


Work Hours: Approximately 25 hours a week.
The schedule may vary. Some evenings and weekends



Hourly Range: $15.00 to $19 an hour
