As an Power Engineer - Test Emphasis a typical day might include the following:
Further develop and maintain a detailed understanding of electric power systems and how to protect, monitor, and control the power system.
Develop functional test procedures for protection algorithms and schemes.
Develop and manage power system models in simulation environments.
Lead and execute functional and validation tests.
Propose improvements to protection algorithms and schemes.
Partner with R&D product groups to ensure that system level testing includes products from automation, software, and communication groups.
Manage a test laboratory as well as the inventory of products.
Assist with application literature, instruction manuals, and data sheets.
Assist in writing and reviewing innovative power system protection solutions to present at technical meetings and conferences.
This job might be for you if:
You have a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
You possess 2+ years of experience in electric power systems, testing protection, and automation systems
You have knowledge of programming and/or scripting languages suitable for creating and maintaining automated tests and testing processes.
You have working knowledge of substation apparatus and protective relay applications at electrical utilities or industrial facilities
You have strong background in power system analysis, symmetrical components, power system protection
You must possess strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Pay Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Power Engineer $88,000 - $108,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
