Summary:
Working cooperatively as a member of the transplant team, the transplant coordinator is responsible for coordinating all the activities related to all phases of transplant. These activities include evaluating potential recipients and living donors if applicable, educating potential recipients and potential donors if applicable, post-transplant patients and living donors if applicable; providing consultative services and education to nursing services during the transplant recipients' and living donors' hospitalization if applicable; and coordinating follow-up care of the transplant patient and living donor if applicable.

Responsibilities:
Assesses potential learning problems (language barriers, readiness to learn, etc.) and structures teaching sessions to meet individual needs.Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age-specific needs.Provides education about transplantation to patients and their families.Coordinates assessment and evaluation of potential transplant recipients and potential living donors if applicable.Coordinates and assures thorough and consistent follow-up care of the transplant recipient and living donor if applicable with transplant physicians, transplant surgeons, and other care providers.Assists nursing units in the care of all transplant patients and living donors if applicable to ensure proper admission and care of the hospitalized patient.

Education and Certification Requirements:
Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience in a critical care or transplant setting; or a minimum of two (2) years caring for patients with cardiac or renal disease. Solid Organ transplant experience preferred.
