Pay Rate: $47,760 - $59,110.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.

Position Summary: The Pellissippi State Community College's Career Development Transfer Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating initiatives that aim to achieve the college's strategic objectives to enhance career development and university transfers. The main goal is to ensure that students have a seamless transition from PSCC to further academic or professional pursuits as part of the Title III Grant objectives. Report to the Director of Career Development Director and work with the Title III Project Director to align Career Development with educational programming and workforce demand.


The coordinator will provide individualized advice and support to students regarding potential career and transfer pathways through assessment and coordination with Transfer Hub staff. Develop and implement work-based learning opportunities such as internships, job shadowing, employment skills workshops and training, and informational sessions about diverse professions and industries. Research and plan industry-recognized credential prep and certification/badging opportunities to align with the College's Reimagining Community College goals and Guided Pathway work.



Essential Functions:



30Êreer Exploration:


Offer individualized advice to students about potential career paths based on comprehensive services, including analysis of YouScience career assessments. Facilitate workshops and other career awareness activities on diverse professions, exposing students to a range of industries and roles. Foster a culture of career exploration, aiding students in understanding the alignment between their studies and potential career trajectories. Work closely with Academic and Student Affairs staff to implement the Career Mentor component of the Student Success Teams, including recruitment and training of Career Mentors



30% Transfer Assistance and Enhancement:


Drive initiatives that actively elevate PSCC's transfer rate. Work with Transfer Hub, Career Development staff, and other College departments to coordinate transfer fairs and build partnerships with four-year institutions to create seamless pathways for students.



15% Work-Based Learning (WBL) Cultivation:


Develop and maintain a continuum of WBL opportunities, ensuring students gain practical industry experience through workplace tours, guest speakers, career fairs, career training and mentoring, and other employer engagement opportunities. Collaborate with local businesses and industries to create internships, apprenticeships, and job-shadowing opportunities.

Credentialing & Certification Guidance:


Works with Director of Career Development to develop employability-related industry-recognized credential opportunities that are relevant to educational and industry pathways based on demand from workforce partners. Assist students in recognizing and pursuing relevant industry credentials that boost their employability. Offer information/prep sessions on the importance of certification in specific industries, creating a roadmap for students.

Data Collection, Monitoring & Reporting:


Work closely with the Title III Project Director and Student Experience Data manager to monitor and report on transfer rates, WBL participation, and students' career transitions. Regularly assess the efficacy of career, transfer, and WBL services, refining strategies based on student feedback and changing industry requirements.

Resource & Partnership Development


Use the College's tools and programs (i.e., Handshake, YouScience, and Navigate) to establish a repository of career, transfer, and credentialing resources accessible to students. Engage with academic departments, industry experts, and other colleges to fortify career, transfer, and WBL opportunities and organizational tools.

Administration:


The incumbent will submit monthly reports to the Director of Career Development and Project Director detailing progress toward Title III grant deliverables.


Serve on College committees as assigned; participate in relevant professional organizations and professional development activities that enhance the College mission. Some travel related to job duties across Knox and Blount counties, the east TN region, and the state. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree required. Experience in career development, Career and Technical Education, Workforce Development, academic advising, or transfer coordination within the context of higher education.

  • Four years of experience in Higher Education, Career and Technical Education, or Workforce Development.



Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

Physical Demands:


An extensive amount of walking, standing, traveling, and lifting, including a minimum of 30 lbs lifting, is required. Additionally, the job involves a significant amount of computer work.



Hazards:


Injury from lifting or standing for long periods of time, and injuries from activities/programming.
