Assistant or Associate Professor, Swine Nutrition and Management
Department of Animal Sciences
Position: Assistant or Associate Professor, Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Swine Nutrition and Management in the Department of Animal Sciences (45% Research | 20% Teaching | 35% Extension)
Description: This position is available through a strategic departmental hiring plan to expand research and education to provide safe, reliable food supply for a growing world population and promote animal health and well-being. This position will focus on swine nutrition and management. We seek an outstanding scholar and educator who will contribute to advancing knowledge in the areas of swine production efficiency, nutrition strategies, and sustainable management practices of swine herds. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of addressing global food security challenges while promoting sustainable practices within the agricultural industry. The person hired will develop a nationally and internationally recognized, extramurally funded research and extension program, collaborate across disciplines and with industry partners to seek practical solutions to questions which have economic and social implications to stakeholders including consumers, and contribute to the department's academic programs. This position builds on our history and ongoing research in genetics, nutrition, meat science, management, immune and reproductive physiology, microbiology and animal systems.
Qualifications:
Assistant Professor: Required qualifications for candidates include (1) Ph.D. degree in animal science or relevant field by the start date; (2) research emphasis on swine nutrition and management; (3) a record of publication; (4) potential to develop an extramurally funded research program; and (5) commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
Associate Professor: Required qualifications for candidates include (1) Ph.D. degree in animal science or relevant field; (2) research emphasis on swine nutrition and management; (3) strong record of publication; (4) demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding; and (5) commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop a nationally and internationally recognized research and extension program supported by extramural funding, contribute to academic programs related to swine nutrition and management, and perform other services expected at an academic institution.
Proposed Start Date: August 16, 2025
Salary: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The budgeted salary range for this position is $82,000-$90,000 at the Assistant Professor level, $95,000 - $110,000 at the Associate Professor level.
Appointment Details: This 9/12 tenure-track faculty position is 100% FTE.
