The Center for Survey Research is a research unit of the Indiana University (IU) Institute for Social and Behavioral Research providing state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research services.
Job Summary
Conduct research interviews over the telephone.
Garner participation in an academic research study of home care and health services interest through engaging and confident conversations using your personal computer and internet.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
General knowledge at the high school level
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Customer service, telephone work experience, or familiarity with social science or health research
SKILLS

Excellent English verbal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to follow instructions closely
Proficiency with Microsoft products
Typing speed of 50 wpm or above
Ability to complete virtual and online self-study trainings and successfully pass an approval call
Preferred
Bilingual Spanish-English language reading, speaking, and writing proficiency
Working Conditions / Demands
Physical demands include working on the computer for sustained amounts of time, mental concentration, speech and listening.
A computer with at least 8GB RAM (16GB preferred) a reliable computer with excellent audio input and output (speaker/microphone) is essential to this job.
Must be available to work some evenings or weekends.
Other equipment requirements include:
Windows 11 or Windows 10 64-bit with the latest security updates or MacOS 12, 13, or 14
Any current-generation x64-based processor (Intel or AMD) of over 2 GHz and at least 2 cores
Strong, reliable internet connection at a minimum of 100 mbps
Quiet, private room or closed-door space in your home for a confidential environment
Additional Information
The position does NOT engage in telemarketing or fundraising.
Interviews are conducted over the (internet) telephone using Dialpad, a web-based communication platform, to initiate calls and data will be entered and managed using REDCap, a secure web application for data collection.
The Research Lab has a facility on the IUB campus but part-time research lab telephone interviewers will be calling remotely from their homes, not on-site.
Work Location
This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Work Hours
Minimum of 12 hours per week.
Individual daytime work shifts (morning and afternoon shifts) run approximately 4 hours while evening shifts run 3 hours.
Work schedules are flexible but part-time telephone research lab telephone interviewers must be available for some evening or weekend shifts and work a minimum of 3 shifts per week.
The remote interviews are conducted daily (including weekends), from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Eastern Time.
Typical work shifts in the Research Lab are:
Morning: 9am to 1pm (EST/EDT)
Afternoon: 1pm to 5pm (EST/EDT)
Evening: 6pm to 9pm (EST/EDT)
Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon and evening shifts are also available
