Aegis Aerospace is seeking a skilled Structures Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
The Period of Performance (POP) is through 30 June 2025 but will most likely be extended through March 2026. This is an onsite role initially with a 9x80 (9,9,9,9,8- 1st week, 9,9,9,9 off Friday-2nd week) work schedule. After two weeks role may become hybrid 2 days onsite.
Overview
Aegis Aerospace, in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is seeking an experienced Structures Engineer to support the M to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) mission. This role involves the development and analysis of Finite Element Models (FEMs) for the MAV structure, contributing to one of NASA's most ambitious missions- the return of Martian samples to Earth.
As a Structures Engineer, you will play a critical role in evaluating and optimizing MAV's structural integrity, providing design insights based on FEM static analysis results, and supporting various program milestones.

Responsibilities
Develop finite element models (FEMs) and perform static structural analysis for the MAVIS structure.
Provide insights and recommendations to the design team regarding structural modifications based on analysis results.
Support structures team in preparing test readiness reviews (TTR), preliminary design reviews (PDR), design requirements documents (DRDs), and other key deliverables.
Participate in integrated product team (IPT) meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Contribute to the development and delivery of contract deliverables related to structural design subsystems.
Utilize CAD software (Creo preferred) for structural modeling and design support.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must presently be a US Citizen
Must have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related field from an accredited college is required
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in structures design, FEM analysis, and CAD tool usage beyond academia is required
Technical expertise: Strong proficiency in finite element modeling (FEM) and status structural analysis, Experience providing design recommendations based on FEM analysis, Proficiency in CAD tools (CREO preferred)
Collaboration and communication: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, providing insights to designers and engineers
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related field from an accredited college
Familiarity with launch vehicle or spacecraft structural analysis
Knowledge of NASA structural design and verification standards
Experience working with government contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and contractual requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to effectively utilize these tools for documentation, communication, and collaboration
