Supervised under the Quarry Superintendent, the Quarry Relief operates, lubricates, and maintains heavy equipment, crusher, and the conveying system. Provides back-up and relief to the Quarry Assistant and the Quarry Heavy Equipment Operator. Performs other duties as required to promote the mining effort.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Put safety first in all things
Fills in for Quarry Assistant and/or Quarry Heavy Equipment Operator when they are scheduled off (PTO, training, etc.).
Operates and lubricates heavy equipment in the quarry. (Loader, Excavator, Maintainer)
Responsible for housekeeping in work areas.
Inspects belts and feeders throughout quarry; promptly reports needed repairs
Cleans spills using, shovel, broom and wheelbarrow as needed.
Must be capable of using a computer after reasonable amount of training
Help the Quarry Assistant as needed
Monitors limestone quality by good communication using the cross-belt analyzer.
Monitor and maintain fugitive dust systems.
Undertake minor repairs or assist others and report any needed repairs to the supervisor.
Must be able to maintain accurate records.
Assist in quarry, crusher and limestone storage dome clean up
Must be able to work nights/weekends when needed
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED
Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language to a degree sufficient to comprehend technical manuals
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to read and write to complete required daily reports
Must have good communication skills one on one face to face or using a two way radio.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and mild heights
Must have some mechanical skills and ability to do small repairs
Must be able to read and understand technical manuals for heavy equipment and demonstrate understanding
Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely operate equipment
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions and some moderate heights
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 60 pounds and perform manual labor
Must have the ability to assimilate Visual acuity, speech & hearing, hand & eye coordination
Walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this production labor position
Must use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS's)
